Patna, Bihar – July 27: A 14 year old schoolgirl was raped by a 28 year old teacher belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community at Bishop Scott School, one of Patna’s top private institutions. The accused used his position of power to exploit, sexually assault, and traumatize the minor inside the school campus.
Instead of informing police, the school administration tried to suppress the incident, protect the accused, and silence the victim’s family. An FIR was filed only after massive protest by parents and intervention by the Bihar State Child Protection Commission, under the POCSO Act and IPC sections related to rape.
Rape Inside a School
According to the FIR and testimonies from the victim’s family, the Class 9 student was repeatedly harassed before the final act of rape took place in a vacant classroom. The accused a teacher from the Dalit community had been sexually targeting her for weeks, and the girl had been too afraid to speak until the trauma became unbearable.
Once she finally confided in her parents, they approached the school management expecting immediate suspension and FIR.
Instead, they were told to “keep quiet to protect the school’s image.”
School Tried to Bury the Crime
Rather than take action, Bishop Scott School attempted a full blown cover up:
- No internal inquiry.
- No suspension of the teacher.
- No police call.
- Victim’s family was pressured to withdraw.
- No POCSO compliance in response.
In short: They tried to bury the rape of a minor.
It was only after other parents learned of the incident and protested at the school gates that action was taken. The school was surrounded by furious families demanding arrest and license cancellation.

Commission Took Suo Motu, FIR Finally Filed Under POCSO Act
The Bihar State Child Protection Commission stepped in suo motu and ordered a full investigation. This forced the local police to act.
The accused was arrested, and an FIR was filed under the POCSO Act, along with rape charges under the IPC. The girl’s medical examination was conducted, and her statement was recorded under Section 164 of CrPC.
The POCSO Act, which was created to protect children from sexual offences, mandates mandatory reporting by institutions. Bishop Scott School’s failure is a direct violation of Section 21 of POCSO, which punishes suppression with imprisonment.
Caste Silence: Where Are The Activists Now?
Let’s be brutally honest.
Had the accused been a Brahmin or Thakur teacher, this case would be national headlines.
Left liberal portals would be writing op-eds on Brahmanical patriarchy.
Feminist influencers would be tweeting nonstop.
Dalit activists would call it caste violence.
But in this case, the accused is Scheduled Caste and suddenly, everyone is silent.
Where are the Ambedkarite voices now? Where is NCW? Where is Tejashwi Yadav? Where is Rahul Gandhi? Where is Akhilesh Yadav? Why is caste outrage missing when the rapist is Dalit and the victim is not?
This is the caste hypocrisy that no one wants to address. But The News Drill will.
Legal and Institutional Action Must Follow
The girl’s family has demanded:
- Arrest of all staff who tried to silence them.
- Action against the principal.
- License cancellation of the school.
- Strictest punishment for the SC teacher under the POCSO Act.
Public pressure is mounting, and the state government has promised a full probe.
But unless real institutional accountability happens, this will be just another case buried under caste politics and school reputation.
The POCSO Act Must Be Caste Blind
The POCSO Act is clear: any sexual offence against a child must be reported immediately. The caste of the accused cannot shield him from justice, nor should political fear stop media coverage.
Justice for a minor girl must override identity politics.
Let’s say it plainly: A 14 year old girl was raped. The rapist is SC. The school protected him. And now they all must face the law with no caste based discounts.
We Stand With the Victim
At The News Drill, we don’t play caste games. We don’t censor the truth. And we don’t stay silent when a child is raped.
We stand with the victim. We demand full punishment under the POCSO Act. And we name the rot whether it wears a saffron tilak, carries a Dalit certificate, or hides behind a school’s reputation.
Justice for the girl. Jail for the rapist. Punishment for the protectors.
This is journalism. This is our duty.
