SP MLA Pooja Pal Expelled After Praising CM Yogi Adityanath for Delivering Justice in her Husband Raju Pal Murder Case.
In a stunning political development, Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav has expelled SP MLA Pooja Pal the widow of slain BSP MLA Raju Pal after she publicly praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for delivering justice and taking the fight to the mafia.
Pooja Pal, who had been fighting for years to get justice for her late husband Raju Pal, assassinated in 2005 allegedly by mafia turned politician Atiq Ahmed’s gang, credited Yogi Adityanath for reviving her hopes when they had almost died out.

In her statement, Pooja Pal said:
“राजनीति में आना मेरी कोई ख्वाहिश नहीं थी। मुझे जिसने न्याय दिया, मैं सदैव उसे कृतज्ञता अर्पित करूंगी। जिस न्याय के लिए लड़ते-लड़ते मेरी उम्मीद टूटी थी, उस उम्मीद को न सिर्फ जिंदा किया आदरणीय मुख्यमंत्री Yogi Adityanath जी ने बल्कि उस न्याय को परिणिति तक पहुंचाया।”
Her open acknowledgment of CM Yogi’s governance and crackdown on the mafia appears to have rattled SP’s top brass. Within hours, Akhilesh Yadav ordered her expulsion from the party, citing “anti party activities.”
PDA Politics Exposed
The move has reignited the debate over SP’s so-called “PDA” (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) politics, which critics claim is more about protecting vote banks than standing for justice. While SP leaders often project themselves as champions of social justice, their treatment of Pooja Pal raises uncomfortable questions:
Why is praising good governance treated as a crime within SP?
Does PDA mean ignoring atrocities if the accused belong to a particular political network?
Is SP uncomfortable with Yogi Adityanath’s crackdown on mafias that once enjoyed political shelter?
Pooja Pal’s expulsion sends a chilling message to other SP leaders: toe the party line at all costs even if it means suppressing gratitude for justice delivered after decades.
Justice vs. Politics
CM Yogi’s government has been credited with fast tracking mafia related cases, leading to convictions and demolitions of properties linked to ganglords like Atiq Ahmed. In the Raju Pal murder case, witnesses and family members had long accused previous governments including SP’s of shielding the accused.
Pooja Pal’s gratitude towards Yogi stems from this very fact: justice, delayed for nearly two decades, was finally served.
Her ouster now stands as a stark example of SP’s political priorities where ideological loyalty seems to outweigh moral gratitude and justice for victims.
By removing Pooja Pal, SP may have inadvertently exposed its own selective stand on justice, proving that in PDA politics, party image matters more than victims’ rights.
