1. New “Liquid Glass” UI across the ecosystem6. VisionOS 26 & tvOS/watchOS updates

Apple kicked off WWDC 2025 (WWDC 25) on June 9, delivering its biggest software redesign in years—dubbed “Liquid Glass”—and reinforcing developer-focused features, especially in AI and gaming. Here’s a comprehensive look at the highlights.

1. New “Liquid Glass” UI across the ecosystem

iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 (“Tahoe”), watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26 received a sweeping visual overhaul inspired by the translucent, futuristic style of Vision Pro.

Expectations were confirmed: we’re seeing glassy, floating menus and cohesive visual themes across devices.

2. A major shift in OS versioning

Apple abandoned traditional version numbers: no iOS 19—instead launching iOS 26, aligning numbering across platforms to the year .

3. Enhanced AI & Apple Intelligence update

Apple revisited last year’s Apple Intelligence platform, addressing previous delays and reaffirming new features are coming in the “coming year”.

Introduced: AI-powered battery optimization, third-party “Foundation Models” framework, live translation via AirPods, advanced Markdown and Siri improvements—though a full Siri overhaul is still pending.

4. iPadOS gets Power-user upgrades

iPadOS 26 brings macOS-style multitasking—taskbar, menu bars, revamped Files and Preview apps, plus expanded AI tools.

5. New “Games” app & gaming improvements

Apple debuted a dedicated Games app, replacing Game Center, aiming to promote Mac gaming and centralize discovery.

6. VisionOS 26 & tvOS/watchOS updates

VisionOS® 26 adopts the Liquid Glass aesthetic.

watchOS 26 adds new workout types and AI-powered health insights; tvOS 26 gets interface enhancements paralleled with the broader redesign.

7. No new hardware yet

True to form, WWDC 25 was a software-centric event—no new hardware releases. Devices like iPhone 17, updated Watches, and Mac Pro will arrive later this fall.

Why this matters

Design unity: For the first time since iOS 7 in 2013, Apple is rolling out a unified aesthetic across all major OSes.

Developer enablement: New frameworks for AI, expanded multitasking on iPad, and the Games app all open more opportunities.

AI course‑correction: After underwhelming rollout last year, Apple is doubling down with pragmatic AI enhancements and improved on-device intelligence.

🎯 Final take

WWDC 25 wasn’t about flashy gadgets—it showcased a bold software renaissance. With the Liquid Glass design bringing immediate cohesion, AI improvements signaling renewed momentum, and developer-friendly tools front and center, Apple is resetting expectations as it marches into the post-visionOS era.
