Drishyam style murder case in Maharashtra - body buried under tiles

Mumbai, July 22: In a shocking incident eerily similar to the plot of the Bollywood film Drishyam, a woman from Maharashtra’s Gadagpada area has been arrested for murdering her husband and burying his body under floor tiles of their chawl residence. The ghastly Drishyam murder case unfolded after suspicious relatives discovered discrepancies in floor tiling and alerted the police.

Crime Scene Mirrors Drishyam But with a Deadly Twist

The accused, Komal Chavan, allegedly murdered her husband Vijay Chavan (35) with the help of her lover. Unlike the 2015 thriller Drishyam, where the protagonist buries a body to protect his family, this Drishyam murder case involves a victim named Vijay, ironically the same name as Ajay Devgn’s character in the movie.

Komal and her lover reportedly executed the murder about 15 days ago and attempted to cover their tracks by hiding the body beneath the newly tiled floor inside their chawl room in Sai Welfare Society, Gadagpada.

Suspicion Sparked by Mismatched Tiles

The crime remained under wraps until Monday, when Vijay’s brothers visited the couple’s home to check on him. On reaching the premises, they noticed inconsistencies in the tile color in one part of the room. Their concern grew after detecting a strong foul smell from the tiled area.

Acting on their instincts, the brothers began removing the tiles themselves, which intensified the stench. They immediately contacted the local police, who arrived with a team to excavate the floor.

Gruesome Discovery and Arrest

Upon digging through the cemented floor, authorities discovered Vijay’s decomposed body. The police swiftly detained Komal Chavan, who eventually confessed to the murder during preliminary interrogation.

As per initial reports, Komal had been in an extra marital relationship, and with her lover’s aid, decided to eliminate her husband. Police sources suggest that the murder was premeditated, and the plan to conceal the body under floor tiles was directly inspired by movies like Drishyam.

Police Investigation Underway

Senior officers from the local police station confirmed that forensic experts were called to the spot, and further examinations are ongoing. The lover is currently absconding, and police teams have launched a manhunt to apprehend him.

The body has been sent for post-mortem, and investigators are looking into the exact cause of death. Officials have also questioned neighbors and relatives to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the murder.

Neighbors in Shock Over ‘Drishyam Style Murder Case’

Residents of Sai Welfare Society are stunned by the incident. According to some locals, the couple often had frequent quarrels, but no one could have imagined it would escalate to murder. Many are drawing parallels with the Drishyam murder case, as the method of hiding the body under the house floor is chillingly cinematic.

“This feels like a real life Drishyam gone wrong,” said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous.

A Rise in Cinematic Crimes?

This case has once again reignited conversations around real life crimes inspired by films, especially as the Drishyam murder case continues to trend on social media platforms. Experts argue that cinematic influence, coupled with emotional instability, can lead to copycat crimes that mimic screenplays with disturbing precision.

Conclusion

As investigations unfold, the Maharashtra police are working to uncover more details about this real life Drishyam murder case, and bring all involved to justice. This gruesome episode serves as a stark reminder of how crime, when entangled with obsession and betrayal, can blur the lines between reel and real life.
