Gwalior Shocker: Woman Poisoned by In-Laws, Police Accused of Protecting Culprits

Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh – A young woman’s family has accused her in-laws of deliberately poisoning her, while also alleging that the local police have been shielding the accused instead of delivering justice. The case, which has shaken residents of Maharajpura and beyond, highlights glaring lapses in law enforcement, raising serious questions about accountability and integrity within the system.

According to the victim’s brother Mayank, his sister was poisoned under mysterious circumstances by her husband’s family over a month ago. The woman was rushed to a hospital in a critical condition, where she continues to battle severe health complications. Her treatment has already cost the family several lakhs, pushing them into financial hardship while they struggle to save her life.

Mayank alleges that when the family approached Maharajpura Police Station to file a complaint, the Station House Officer (SHO) Dharmendra Singh Yadav initially refused to register a First Information Report (FIR). It was only after persistent pressure that the FIR was filed, but the charges were allegedly watered down. Shockingly, the critical section of “attempt to murder” was excluded, despite the life threatening condition of the victim.

“This is nothing short of betrayal by those entrusted with upholding the law,” Mayank said. “The SHO chose money over justice and diluted the case to protect the culprits. While my sister fights for her life, her in-laws are roaming free.”

Accused Still Absconding

In another disturbing twist to this Gwalior shocker, more than a month has passed since the crime, yet the accused in-laws remain at large. Locals allege that there has been little to no serious police effort to trace or arrest them. For the victim’s family, the inaction has only deepened their despair.

“Our faith in the system is shattered,” the family said. “The police should have been the first to stand with us, but instead, they are safeguarding the criminals. We are being forced to fight a lonely battle.”

Maharajpura Police Station Gwalior SHO Dharmendra Singh Yadav firstly wasn't willing to write the FIR, later refused to add attempt to murder, and weakened the case from the very beginning.

Growing Anger

The incident has sparked widespread anger in India, with citizens questioning why justice is being delayed. Legal experts point out that non-registration of appropriate sections and failure to arrest accused persons can amount to dereliction of duty. Civil society members argue that this Gwalior case is not an isolated case but part of a wider pattern of police corruption and negligence across the state.

Fight for justice

Despite the grim situation, Mayank insists that the family will not give up. “We may have lost faith in the system, but we will continue to fight. My sister deserves justice, and the criminals must be punished. If we stay silent today, tomorrow another family will face the same fate,” he said.

As the victim remains in hospital and the family struggles with spiraling medical expenses, their cry for justice grows louder. This Gwalior shocker not only exposes the plight of one family but also highlights the urgent need for police accountability and legal reforms in cases involving violence against women.
