Hardoi Suicide Case: Man Dies After Wife's Affair With Hakeem
Pic Credits & Source: Social Media Post on X

Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh – A tragic incident has rocked the quiet neighbourhood of Hardoi district, where a man named Sarvesh Rajput allegedly died by suicide after discovering his wife Rinki’s affair with a Muslim man named Hakeem from the same locality. The disturbing series of events, now under police investigation, has not only shocked the local community but has also reignited heated debates across social platforms on issues of infidelity, interfaith relationships, and domestic trauma.

According to sources, the incident unfolded earlier this week and came to a head on Thursday, when Sarvesh reportedly consumed poison after a devastating confrontation with his wife. The police have now registered an FIR against Rinki and her alleged lover Hakeem, following a statement made by the deceased’s daughter.

Daughter’s Shocking Testimony

In a chilling revelation, the couple’s minor daughter claimed that her mother had been involved in an ongoing extramarital affair with a man from the neighbourhood named Hakeem. According to her, Hakeem frequently visited their house when Sarvesh was not home.

On the day of the incident, Rinki allegedly left the house with Hakeem, causing panic within the family. When Sarvesh confronted her and pleaded for her to return, she coldly refused. Her response reportedly broke him. “You can eat poison and die if you want. I’m not coming back,” she allegedly told him.

Devastated and humiliated, Sarvesh took the drastic step of ingesting poison. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed shortly after. His death has now prompted local police to register a case under Section 306 IPC (abetment to suicide) against Rinki and Hakeem.

Police Investigation Begins

Hardoi police confirmed the registration of an FIR based on the testimony of Sarvesh’s daughter and other members of the family. “We are currently investigating all angles, including the role of the wife and her lover. The daughter’s statement has been recorded under proper legal procedures,” said a senior police official from Hardoi district.

Authorities are also examining phone records, surveillance footage, and witness accounts to build a timeline of events that led to the suicide. Meanwhile, the body of Sarvesh Rajput has been sent for post-mortem examination, and results are awaited.

Role of Hakeem More Than Just an Affair?

While the initial reports portray Hakeem merely as Rinki’s lover, locals suspect a deeper level of manipulation. According to some neighbours, Hakeem was known to frequent the Sarvesh Rajput residence during odd hours. Some even allege that the relationship may have been coercive or manipulative, though this has not been confirmed by police so far.

The incident has sparked discussions on interfaith relationships, particularly the tension they sometimes generate in conservative and close knit communities like Hardoi. While relationships across religious lines are legal and constitutionally protected, the secrecy and betrayal involved in this particular case have become the focal point of public outrage.

Public Reaction and Community Tensions

The suicide of Sarvesh Rajput has stirred emotions across Hardoi and beyond. Many residents of the area held candlelight marches in support of the grieving family. Posters demanding “Justice for Sarvesh” have begun appearing in local markets and WhatsApp groups.

Netizens condemning the affair and calling for strict legal action against both Rinki and Hakeem.

Some groups have tried to give a communal angle to the case, raising concerns over law and order. However, local authorities have urged people to remain calm and allow the legal process to unfold.

Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code deals with abetment of suicide, and if convicted, the accused may face up to 10 years of imprisonment along with a fine. In such cases, establishing direct involvement and intention becomes key. The testimony of Sarvesh’s daughter and any suicide note or voice messages may become critical pieces of evidence.

Legal experts say that if the statement by the daughter is found reliable, Rinki and Hakeem could be held criminally liable for instigating the suicide.

Impact on the Family

Sarvesh Rajput is survived by his daughter, who is now under the care of her paternal relatives. The emotional toll on the minor, who witnessed the deterioration of her parents’ relationship and her father’s eventual suicide, is unimaginable.

Family members have demanded swift justice and called for psychological support for the child, who remains the sole eyewitness to the family’s breakdown.

Conclusion

This Hardoi suicide case is a grim reminder of how betrayal and emotional trauma within domestic relationships can lead to irreversible consequences. While infidelity alone is not a crime, abetment to suicide is a serious legal offense that the courts and police are now rigorously investigating.

The incident has peeled back layers of complex social and emotional issues, from family betrayal and infidelity to communal sensitivities and mental health awareness. Whether justice is served will now depend on the strength of the evidence and the diligence of the ongoing police probe.
