Under the inspiring leadership of captain Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian team ended decades of heartbreak, marking a new golden era in women’s cricket.
Batting first, India Women posted a strong total of 298 for 7 in their allotted overs. Shafali Verma, who was drafted into the squad just six days ago, played a match defining knock of 87 off 78 balls, showcasing class and composure on the grandest stage. Smriti Mandhana (45), Deepti Sharma (58), and Richa Ghosh (34) added valuable runs, ensuring India reached a competitive total.
