Kerala – In a heart wrenching incident that has shocked Kerala, 23 year old Sona Eldose, a Government Teachers Training Institute (TTI) student, has died by suicide. According to police reports and her handwritten suicide note, she alleged that her boyfriend, identified as Rameez, and his family pressured her to convert to Islam before marriage and subjected her to repeated physical abuse.

They called The Kerala Story “RSS propaganda,” mocked it, tried to ban it, and sold their Spine for Muslim vote banks.

Police Investigation Underway

Police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against Rameez and are probing the involvement of his family members. Authorities confirmed that the suicide note will play a key role in the investigation.

“We are looking into all angles, including the allegations of forced religious conversion and physical abuse,” said an investigating officer.

Forced Conversion Debate in Kerala

The Kerala Christian woman suicide case adds to a series of controversial incidents in the state that have fueled debates about “love jihad” and coercive interfaith relationships. While the term remains politically sensitive, human rights advocates agree that no one should be forced to change their religion through intimidation or abuse.
