Cuttack, Odisha: In a major crackdown on corruption, the Odisha Vigilance on Friday launched extensive searches at five locations linked to Sri Kishore Kumar Sahani, Senior Assistant at City Hospital, Office of the CDMO, Cuttack. Sahani has been accused of misappropriating government funds worth over ₹1.24 crore during his tenure spanning nearly two decades.
According to official reports, a massive team comprising 9 DSPs, 10 Inspectors, 7 ASIs, and several supporting staff carried out the searches based on warrants issued by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack. The searches, which are still in progress, have already revealed a staggering accumulation of assets disproportionate to Sahani’s known sources of income.

Assets Unearthed During Searches
So far, the Odisha Vigilance team has unearthed:
- Two buildings and 19 plots of land
- ₹3.5 lakh in cash
- 135 grams of gold ornaments
- Bank deposits worth ₹44.46 lakh
Officials stated that further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of his wealth and sources of funds.
Modus Operandi of Misappropriation
Preliminary investigation by the Odisha Vigilance revealed a well planned modus operandi. During his service at City Hospital, Kishore Kumar Sahani allegedly:
- Failed to deposit user charges collected from patients into government accounts
- Made fraudulent withdrawals from government accounts
- Transferred funds from government accounts into his personal accounts
This elaborate system of financial malpractice reportedly continued for years, leading to massive financial losses to the state exchequer.
Interrogation Underway
The accused, Kishore Kumar Sahani, is currently being interrogated by the Odisha Vigilance team. His alleged misappropriation of over ₹1.24 crore in government funds is under verification, and authorities have not ruled out the possibility of discovering more irregularities as searches continue.
Crackdown on Corruption
The latest action once again underscores the commitment of Odisha Vigilance to act firmly against corruption in government offices. Over the past few years, several raids have been conducted across the state, resulting in the detection of disproportionate assets and arrest of officials misusing their positions.
