In an age that champions equality and accountability, a troubling double standard is emerging—one where violence or harm against men is often met with applause, indifference, or outright mockery.
Recently, the New York Post reported:
“24-year-old Australian woman set friend on fire for making misogynistic remark.”
Rather than widespread outrage, a viral tweet joked:
“He told her to stay in the kitchen, so she literally cooked him. This diva.”
With over 370,000 likes and tens of thousands of shares, the internet responded with laughter—not horror.
Let that sink in: a man was reportedly set on fire, and millions laughed.
Reverse the Roles
Now imagine the reverse: a man sets a woman on fire for a perceived insult. Would jokes trend? Would users call him a “king” or a “legend”? Of course not—and rightly so.
So why the double standard?
This isn’t feminism. It’s misandry disguised as justice.
This Culture Isn’t Isolated: More Disturbing Examples
1. Hateful Reactions to Margot Robbie’s Baby Boy
When actress Margot Robbie gave birth to a baby boy, several self-identified feminists took to X (formerly Twitter) to express disturbing disappointment. One tweet read:
“There’s still time. Sometimes they have cot death.”
Replies doubled down:
- “Yeah you need to just die.”
- “The baby boy first.”

These were not fringe trolls—they were part of a growing trend where some view the birth of boys as a setback for feminism. In any other context, these comments would be seen as unthinkably cruel. But directed at males—even infants—they’re shrugged off.
2. Celebrating Male Deaths in Terror Attacks
Following a terror incident in Pahalgam, India, a verified user posted:
“The only unfortunate thing about this whole situation is they got only 26 men. They should’ve killed at least 500 Indian men.”
Another reply accused feminists of being aligned with terrorists:
“Feminists and Terrorists are out here collaborating like it’s a group project.”
This isn’t critique—it’s hate.
Feminists and Terrorists are really out here collaborating like it’s a group project.

Feminism vs. Misandry
True feminism is about equality—not retribution. It stands for justice for all, not just one gender. When people celebrate harm toward men under the guise of feminism, they distort the movement’s true purpose.
We must ask: If we fight for victims, why does male suffering earn mockery instead of empathy?
The Real-World Consequences
- Male victims are less likely to report abuse.
- Suicide rates among men remain high—and often unaddressed.
- Harm against men is normalized or even justified by pop culture and social media.
This double standard is not equality. It is a cultural blind spot.
A Call for Equal Compassion
Empathy must be inclusive. Violence is never acceptable—no matter the victim’s gender. It’s time to reject selective outrage and begin holding all violence to the same standard.
Justice isn’t justice unless it’s for everyone.
This Isn’t Anti-Feminism. This Is Pro-Humanity.
Calling out this double standard isn’t misogynistic—it’s essential. Justice that’s truly just does not discriminate. Equality that’s real does not exclude.
We don’t need to silence women to uplift men. We need to silence cruelty—no matter where it comes from, or who it targets.
Let’s Do Better
We must stop clapping for cruelty and start standing up for actual justice. If we truly care about equality, we need to speak up when anyone—man or woman—is harmed, mocked, or dehumanized.
If equality matters, then every life—and every victim—should matter equally.
