Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has finally addressed the controversy surrounding his ex-wife Dhanashree Verma’s cheating allegations, breaking his silence in an exclusive conversation with HT City. The leg-spinner, known for his calm and composed nature on and off the field, firmly denied all claims made against him, calling them “baseless and exhausting.”
“I Am a Sportsperson, I Don’t Cheat,” Says Yuzvendra Chahal
A viral clip from an OTT based reality show Rise & Fall reignited public interest in Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree’s marriage. In the episode, Dhanashree hinted that Chahal had cheated just two months after their wedding. The internet quickly amplified her statement, sparking widespread debate and speculation.
However, Yuzvendra Chahal maintains that the allegations hold no truth. “I am a sportsperson and I do not cheat. Agar koi two months mei hi cheat karta toh itna lamba relationship chalta kya? For me, this chapter is over, done and dusted. I have moved forward with my life and everyone else should do, too,” he told HT City.
Chahal further added, “Hamari shadi 4.5 years thi. Agar two months mein cheat hua hota toh kaun continue karta? I’ve said before that I’ve moved on from my past. But some people are still stuck there. Even now, some people are running their homes on my name. They can continue doing that — I’m not affected anymore.”
Yuzvendra Chahal Focuses on Life Beyond Controversy
The 35 year old cricketer emphasized that he has put that phase of his life behind him. “Mai iss chapter ko bhula chuka hun. Koi kuch bhi keh deta hai, and social media pe chal jata hai. 100 baatein chalti hain, but the truth is only one, and those who matter, know it,” he said.
Yuzvendra Chahal also confirmed his current relationship status, stating with a laugh, “I am single and not looking to mingle right now.”

From Cricket to E-Gaming: A New Chapter for Yuzi
Moving away from controversy, Yuzvendra Chahal spoke passionately about his love for gaming and his plans to enter the e-gaming industry. “I’ve always loved to play games online. I know e-gaming has a huge future, and that’s where I plan to enter. We even have an anthem launching soon,” he shared.
The cricketer, who grew up in a middle-class family in Haryana, reflected on his journey with gratitude. “Back in the day, I didn’t expect to be successful. I just enjoyed playing. Life is comfortable now. My mum is happy. I am happy.”
The End of a Chapter
Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma tied the knot in December 2020, after meeting during the Covid-19 lockdown when Chahal joined her dance classes. The couple filed for divorce in February 2025, citing irreconcilable differences, and the Bombay High Court expedited their separation before the IPL 2025 season. Reportedly, Dhanashree received ₹4.75 crore as part of the alimony settlement.
As Chahal puts it, “For me, the chapter is closed. I’ve moved on with my life.”
