Bihar SI Anuj Kashyap Dies by Suicide Amid Harassment Allegations

Gaya, Bihar – A shocking incident has come to light from Gaya district in Bihar, where Sub Inspector Anuj Kashyap, a 30 year old officer of the 2019 batch, allegedly ended his life following continuous threats and harassment by his female batchmate, Sub Inspector Sweety Kumari. The tragic death of Sub Inspector Anuj Kashyap has sparked outrage within the police community and raised questions about internal harassment and mental health support for law enforcement officers.

Incident Overview

According to initial reports, Sub Inspector Anuj Kashyap was posted at the Gaya district police unit. He was found dead under suspicious circumstances, with preliminary investigations suggesting suicide. Sources indicate that Sub Inspector Sweety Kumari, who trained alongside him at the police academy, allegedly harassed him and pressured him to leave his pregnant wife to marry her.

The alleged harassment reportedly began during their training period and continued after their postings. It is claimed that Sweety Kumari issued threats and repeatedly contacted Anuj Kashyap, causing immense mental stress.

Allegations of Harassment

Police sources say that Anuj Kashyap had confided in close friends and colleagues about his distress. He allegedly told them that Sweety Kumari was blackmailing and threatening him, making his personal and professional life unbearable. The situation escalated to the point where he was unable to cope with the pressure.

According to unconfirmed reports, Anuj Kashyap was expecting his first child with his wife. The ongoing harassment is said to have placed him in an emotional conflict between his personal life and the demands made by his female batchmate.

Investigation Underway

Bihar Police officials have initiated a departmental inquiry into the matter. Senior officers have confirmed that the statements of fellow officers, friends, and family members are being recorded. Digital evidence, including call records and messages exchanged between Anuj Kashyap and Sweety Kumari, will play a crucial role in the investigation.

The authorities have also indicated that if the allegations are proven, strict departmental and legal action will be taken against the accused officer.

Public and Police Reactions

The death of Sub Inspector Anuj Kashyap has sent shockwaves across Bihar’s law enforcement community. Many officers have expressed concern about the lack of mechanisms to address interpersonal harassment within the force. Social media platforms are flooded with reactions, with many demanding justice for Anuj Kashyap and calling for better mental health support for police personnel.

Police welfare associations have urged the government to ensure that the investigation is transparent and unbiased. They have also stressed the importance of counselling services for officers facing mental stress due to personal or professional conflicts.

Mental Health Concerns in the Police Force

Experts highlight that police officers often face extreme stress due to their high-pressure jobs. Personal conflicts, when combined with professional challenges, can have devastating consequences. The case of Sub Inspector Anuj Kashyap underscores the urgent need for internal support systems, grievance redressal mechanisms, and mandatory counselling sessions for officers.

What’s Next

The post-mortem report of Anuj Kashyap will be a critical piece of evidence. The police have assured that the matter will be investigated thoroughly and that no one will be spared if found guilty of abetting his suicide.

As the investigation continues, the family of Sub Inspector Anuj Kashyap is demanding justice and severe punishment for those responsible. The incident stands as a grim reminder that harassment, irrespective of the gender of the perpetrator, must be taken seriously and addressed promptly within the police force.
