Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh – A disturbing incident of caste based violence has emerged from Mahoba district, where a Dalit woman was brutally beaten for fetching water from a government installed public tap.
According to police sources, the victim, Phula Paswan, a resident of Bhujpura village, had arrived at her brother’s house to celebrate Raksha Bandhan. On the morning of August 13, 2025, she went to fill water from the community tap. At that moment, local resident Bhura Yadav, also known as Brijmohan, allegedly became enraged and launched a violent assault.

The accused reportedly beat the woman with sticks, kicked her, and hurled caste based abuses, leaving her injured. The victim lodged a written complaint at Mahoba police station, which was registered as Case No. 127/25 under IPC sections 115(2), 352, 351(3) and relevant provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Acting swiftly under the supervision of Mahoba SP Prabal Pratap Singh, the police arrested Bhura Yadav and sent him to judicial custody. Authorities have confirmed that further legal proceedings are underway.
