Bihar Polls 2025: Nitish Kumar Offers ₹1,000 Monthly Allowance for Youth, ₹5,000 Aid for Workers

Patna, Bihar: In a significant pre-election move ahead of the upcoming Bihar polls, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a major relief package aimed at unemployed graduates and construction workers.

Under the new scheme, unemployed graduates between the ages of 20 and 25 will receive a monthly allowance of ₹1,000 for up to two years. The initiative, seen as a direct attempt to woo the youth ahead of the Bihar polls, is expected to benefit lakhs of young job seekers struggling to find employment in the state.

Alongside this, the state government has also transferred ₹5,000 each to 16.04 lakh registered construction workers as direct financial assistance. The aid has been credited through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring transparency and quick delivery of funds.

The announcement comes just weeks before the Bihar polls, where Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) faces tough competition from opposition parties looking to capitalize on anti-incumbency. Political analysts suggest that the dual focus on youth and workers reflects the government’s strategy to target two of the most influential voter segments.

The scheme not only provides immediate financial relief but also strengthens the JD(U)’s narrative of welfare driven governance. With unemployment and labor welfare emerging as key issues in the electoral discourse, Nitish Kumar’s move is expected to shape the campaign narrative as the Bihar polls approach.

Whether this announcement will translate into electoral gains remains to be seen, but it has certainly given the ruling coalition a fresh talking point in the run-up to the elections.
